Rush Street Interactive (RSI)/(BetRivers) submitted an application for a Mobile Management Services Provider license on July 19, according to the Ohio Casino Control Commission’s updated list of sports wagering license applicants posted on Friday evening.

This represents RSI’s first application for a mobile sportsbook license in Ohio, and the application was filed in partnership with Hollywood Casino Columbus. RSI had already applied for a retail license in partnership with the Pro Football Hall of Fame on July 1.

RSI is the only stakeholder on the updated list of applicants that applied for a license this week after dozens of applicants submitted their forms a week ago.

Who’s left to apply?

The commission is presently accepting applications for the second installment window that runs from July 15 to Aug. 15 and is designated for Type C sports gaming hosts and second-designated Mobile Management Service Providers. The latter describes the RSI application, as Hollywood Casino Columbus had previously applied with Penn Sports Interactive (Barstool Sportsbook) as its first MMSP.

The first installment window took place from June 15 to July 15 and was designated for Type A, B, and C sports gaming proprietor applicants, first designated MMSPs, Management Services Providers, and suppliers. The commission has stated that stakeholders that don’t submit applications during their assigned installment window are not assured of receiving approval to be active on the universal start date (Jan. 1, 2023) for sports betting in Ohio.

The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, which hosts a NASCAR event, is the only eligible professional sports venue that has not applied for a sports betting license.

The next major date on the commission’s Sports Gaming Implementation Timeline is Aug. 1, which is when the Compliance Document opens and applicants may submit responsible gaming plans, facility plans, equipment testing, geolocation procedures, house rules, and required procedures.
