Ohioans gained their 17th digital sports betting choice Tuesday morning with the launch of the betPARX app.
BetPARX has been operating in Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New Jersey, and it gained access to Ohio’s newly legal market through partnership with the Memorial Tournament and Muirfield Village Golf Club. BetPARX is an official sports betting partner of the PGA Tour.
“BetPARX is thrilled to announce its mobile sports betting debut in Ohio,” Matthew Cullen, senior vice president of sports for betPARX, said in a press release. “BetPARX is one of the leaders in mobile betting and iGaming in North America and leverages superb technology, products, and best Ohio marketing promotions. We are excited to partner with the PGA Tour and the Memorial Tournament to offer a fast, easy, and fun experience for sports fans.”
BetPARX is the interactive gaming subsidiary of Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment, which owns two Parx Casinos in Pennsylvania. Like Barstool Sportsbook and BetRivers, which are among its digital betting competitors in Ohio, betPARX relies on the European odds-making company Kambi for its betting options and prices.
New customers of betPARX, who can use betparx.com or download the app for iOS or Android, will be able to take advantage of special welcome offers extended by the operator. Newcomers to betPARX placing an initial wager of at least $10 will receive $125 in bonus funds if the wager succeeds. Also, new customers will be automatically entered into a drawing in which one will win the right to a $25 “sports bonuses” bet every week for five years.
BetPARX has to play some catch-up
The 16 other mobile operators in Ohio got a head start of a month and a half on betPARX, with reports from the GeoComply firm indicating heavy betting in the state thus far. The first Ohio Casino Control Commission financial report detailing monthly betting handle and revenue is to be released Feb. 28.
BetPARX initially made itself known in Ohio last year in serving as a sponsor of the Memorial Tournament, held at Muirfield Village in Dublin. It will be the tournament’s mobile sports betting sponsor again May 29-June 4, with special branded experiences for tourney attendees.
“We are thrilled to align with betPARX and to provide sports fans throughout the state of Ohio the opportunity to download the betPARX app and start placing bets on all sports,” Dan Sullivan, executive director of the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, said in Tuesday’s press release.
“BetPARX, the Memorial, and the PGA Tour have worked within the guidelines set by the Ohio Casino Control Commission to provide a safe, secure, and enjoyable betting platform. And the betPARX app will provide Memorial fans and patrons a new experience when the top players compete during the week of May 29th.”
